The Ford Shelby Cobra took the sports car world by storm when it was introduced by Carroll Shelby and his band of hot rodders in '62. Shelby American took the antiquated AC "Ace" chassis, inserted a new small block Ford engine and re-engineered the car to handle all the additional power. Weighing only 2,020 pounds, the Cobra easily vanquished sports cars from Jaguar, Chevrolet, Porsche, Aston Martion and others. And in 1965, Shelby's Cobra team wrestled the sports car racing world chanpionship from Ferrari. With a $5,995 MSRP, a total of 655 "small block" Cobras were built from 1962-1965.

CSX2000 is the first Shelby Cobra ever built and quite possibly the most valuable American sports car in the world. The 1962 Cobra has been owned by Carroll Shelby personally since it was built and is in "survivor" condition. The car still has its original four speed Ford 260 c.i.d. engine, brakes, interior and body. As this Shelby was used in various magazine stories when the Cobra was introduced, it has been painted several different times.

"The CSX2000 DNA can be found in every Shelby car and high performance part we've ever built!" - Carroll Shelby
