Although the muscle car era was in decline by 1971, a few powerful exceptions were still bent on kicking up as much dust as they still could. Plymouth's popular Duster 340 received only minor restyling from the previous year, most notably the front grille and rear taillights. The biggest performance change was switching from a Carter AVS four-barrel to a Carter Thermo-Quad four-barrel carb on the high-performance 340 engine. The slightly restrained 275-horsepower still capably ran the quarter-mile in the low 14s, earning this muscular Mopar well-deserved respect.
