Hudson’s mighty power, matchless roadability and economy made driving fun again in 1953. Featuring 1948’s “step down” lowered center of gravity body design, Monobilt frame, famed “Twin H” dual carb 308 c.i. L-6 engine, and “Triple Safe” brakes, the 1953 Hudson Hornet Club Coupe was a serious performance car in its time.

Building on the sucess of the 1952 Hudson, both on the race track and showroom floor, the 1953 Hornet model had many subtle but significant changes made. The triangular struts on the 1952 grille were eliminated to create graceful and uninterrupted horizontal grille lines, adding to the road-hugging look. A streamlined air-scoop type ornament blended into the sleek hood lines. Other advanced refinements included a Dual-Range Hydra-Matic drive transmission option, which gave all the benefits of gas-saving overdrive along with effortless shift-free driving. This extra cost option was especially well-suited to Hudson’s high-compression engines with their tremendous “reserve power”.
