1983 Cadillac Fleetwood - Reagan Presidential Limo (Yat Ming) 1/24
![]() The '83 Presidential limousine features a special chassis and powertrain designed and built by Cadilac in cooperation with the General Motors Engineering Staff. Special armouring and body modifications were designed and developed by Hess and Eisenhardt Armouring of Cincinnati -- a division of O'Gara International Ltd. All facets of the design, development, and manufacture of this Cadillac limousine were supervised by the U.S. Secret Service. The limousine features a black exterior paint finish with dark blue Prima cloth interior trim in both the driver's compartment and the rear compartment. The roof of this Cadillac Presidential limousine has been raised 3 inches above the standard height and widened to provide a distinctively large glass area that features special interior lighting so that the President is visible to the greatest extent during parades and ceremonial occasions. The vehicle has a wheelbase of 161.5 inches which is increased from the 144.5 inches of the conventional Cadillac limousine built at the division's Clark Avenue assembly plant in Detroit. The body of this special car has been extended 17 inches over the standard limousine to permit seating in the rear compartment for five persons when three folding seats are occupied. During this period, other limousines were being built as stretched vehicles for use around airports, at weddings and on prom nights. Cadillac was the only manufacturer to mass-produce the basic vehicle. Currently, the 1983 Cadillac Fleetwood limousine resides at the Ronald W. Reagan Presidential Library & Museum in California.
