The BMW Z8 was a 2000–2003 roadster that honored the original 507 roadster of 1956–1959, the car that nearly bankrupted BMW before the company was saved by the purchase of British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph. The Z8 used the 4.9-liter V8 from the E39 M5, producing 400 horsepower, and was hand-built at BMW's Regensburg facility. Its appearance in The World Is Not Enough (2000) brought it global recognition.
