MM the legendary mark of quality defining unrivalled automotive exclusivity has acquired renewed splendor. Two intersecting Ms in a spherical triangle now form the insignia of Maybach Frankfurt, the new luxury car brand from the Daimler Chrysler Group.
After an absence of over 60 years, the marque reappeared in March 2002 at the 72nd Geneva Motor Show. The striking M emblem is steeped in tradition. For two decades, from 1921 to 1941, this badge adorned only a limited number of very special cars that bore comparison with Mercedes salons in the elite echelon of German vehicle manufacturing.
The new Maybach 57 is 5,72 meters in length and sets new standards with the range of exclusive fittings featured. These include a TV/DVD entertainment system in the rear, a Dolby surround sound system, four zone climate control and multi contour seats for all passengers.
One of the hallmarks of the Maybach is its twotone exterior paintwork. Several hundred possible combinations mean that each owner can have a totally individual look.
The car is powered by the newly developed 405 kw/ 550 hp Type 12 Maybach engine. With 5.5 litre displacement, bi turbocharging and 900 newton meters of torque, this power unit has all the ingredients necessary to deliver superior driving performance. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes a mere 5.2 seconds and the car provides with ease the high level of comfort expected of a luxury car brand.
The electronically controlled air suspension and high performance electro hydraulic braking system featuring twin sensotronic brake control (SBC) are further innovations from the Mercedes Technology Centre.
