The Lamborghini Countach, designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, debuted at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show and caused a sensation unlike anything before it. The scissor doors, aggressive wedge shape, and massive rear wing defined the supercar aesthetic for a generation. The name 'Countach' is Piedmontese dialect for an exclamation of astonishment — the reaction of the designer when he first saw the full-size clay model.
