In 1979, American Express teamed up with the original DeLorean Motor Company to offer 100 special 24K gold-plated DeLorean Sports Cars through their 1979 American Express Christmas catalog at $85,000 each. When they were finally produced in 1981, only two had been sold. This new 1/18 scale model by Sunstar is a faithful recreation of the one original gold car that was made with a tan interior.
