Uncompromising performance and durability made the 1969 Chevy Pickup a favorite at work on the farm or construction jobsite. The bold new grille design, more engine and transmission options, along with many refinements in trim and interior comfort were added to make the new pickup from Chevrolet a hit with suburban drivers too.
Engines ranged from the venerable 155-hp 250 cubic inch High-Torque six-cylinder, to the all new 255-hp 350 cubic inch V-8, or high-performance "Big Block" 396 V-8 rated at well over 300-hp. Available 4-speed close ratio manual or Turbo Hydramatic automatic transmissions transferred the power to a standard 3.73 or optional 4.11 semi-floating rear end attached to smooth-riding trailing arms with coil springs, a suspension design still used today on superspeedway stock cars.
