1956 Jaguar XKSS - Steve McQueen Private Collection (AUTOart) 1/18

Product Details Temp out of stock

By 1957 Jaguar had built sixty-eight D-type racing cars as part of it's International sports car racing program. Following withdrawal from racing, twenty-five completed D-types were left unsold. To make use of these cars, Jaguar Cars Ltd. converted them into road-going sports cars - the Jaguar XKSS!
In the early 1960's, the car had been repainted from it's original cream color to it's present day green. The interior was retrimmed from red to black leather. In 1957 actor Steve McQueen added the XKSS to his vast collection. Today the car resides at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.

The Jaguar XK120, introduced in 1948, used the legendary twin-cam XK engine that would power Jaguar racing cars through the 1950s and 1960s. The '120' referred to its top speed in miles per hour — a claim verified publicly at Jabbeke in Belgium in 1949. The XK120 won the Alpine Rally outright in 1948 and 1949, establishing Jaguar's motorsport credentials. Just over 12,000 were produced across roadster, fixed-head coupe, and drophead coupe body styles.

This 1/18 scale replica of the 1956 Jaguar Xk is produced by AUTOart to collector-grade specifications. At 1/18 scale — the most popular collector scale — the model measures approximately 10 inches in length and displays beautifully on a shelf or in a glass cabinet. Every detail — from paint finish to badging — is reproduced from measurements taken from the original vehicle.
