The Lamborghini Murciélago, produced from 2001 to 2010, was the successor to the Diablo and the last Lamborghini developed before Audi's influence became dominant. The name refers to a famous fighting bull that survived a bullfight in 1879 — a tradition of naming Lamborghinis after famous bulls. The LP670-4 SuperVeloce, with 670 horsepower and a claimed top speed of 212 mph, was the ultimate expression of the Murciélago.
