'78 was the silver anniversary of the GM Chevrolet Corvette, recognizing the 25th year of production. It was also the first year that the Corvette model had the honor of being an official pace car during the running of the 62nd Indianapolis 500. The 1978 model featured a large wraparound back window and a fastback roofline with Goodyear Eagle GT tires. Glass roof panels were a new innovation that year together with 60 series radial tires and a CB radio. Also, all 1978 Corvette models came with special commemorative 25 Anniversary emblems. A four-speed manual gearbox was fitted as standard and a higher output 350 ci. V8 engine was available, although only with an automatic transmission. A total of 46,776 cars were built at a base price of $9,750. Of these, 15,283 cars sported the two-tone Anniversary paint job.

The Chevrolet Corvette is America's sports car, introduced in 1953 and continuously produced ever since — a record unmatched by any American sports car. The C1 (1953–1962) established the fiberglass body, the C2 Sting Ray (1963–1967) introduced independent rear suspension and the iconic split-window coupe, and the C3 (1968–1982) brought the shark body. Each generation represents a distinct era of American performance history, with the 1967 L88 427 and 1969 ZL1 among the most valuable examples.

This 1/18 scale replica of the 1978 Chevrolet Corvette in Silver is produced by AUTOart to collector-grade specifications. At 1/18 scale — the most popular collector scale — the model measures approximately 10 inches in length and displays beautifully on a shelf or in a glass cabinet. Every detail — from paint finish to badging — is reproduced from measurements taken from the original vehicle.
