1962 Chevy Corvette - Fawn Beige (AUTOart) 1/18
Product Details Temp out of stock
The '62 Corvette was the final year of the C1, the model code being first introduced by Chevrolet in 1953 of its all-new fiberglass sport car. It was also the final year of the straight axle Corvette with a new 360-hp 327 small-block engine. With a low 3,070 lbs curb eight, a true sport car of which power steering, power brake and air conditioning were not available, it had a power-to-weight ratio of 8.6 lbs-per-horsepower, capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in less than 6 seconds and a quarter mile in 14.9 seconds. A 3-speed manual gearbox was standardized with a 4-speed manual being offered as optional.
It was the first time since 1955 that the Corvette was offered in solid colors instead of two-tone paint schemes. Side cove chrome and ribbed chrome rocker panels were also removed. President John F. Kennedy proclaimed "America's Sports Car Day" in honor of the 1962 Corvette. Sales of the car increased to a point that a second shift at the plant was added shortly after production had begun. A total of 14,531 units were built.

The Chevrolet Corvette is America's sports car, introduced in 1953 and continuously produced ever since — a record unmatched by any American sports car. The C1 (1953–1962) established the fiberglass body, the C2 Sting Ray (1963–1967) introduced independent rear suspension and the iconic split-window coupe, and the C3 (1968–1982) brought the shark body. Each generation represents a distinct era of American performance history, with the 1967 L88 427 and 1969 ZL1 among the most valuable examples.
This 1/18 scale replica of the 1962 Chevrolet Corvette in Beige is produced by AUTOart to collector-grade specifications. At 1/18 scale — the most popular collector scale — the model measures approximately 10 inches in length and displays beautifully on a shelf or in a glass cabinet. Every detail — from paint finish to badging — is reproduced from measurements taken from the original vehicle.
